If you would have asked me when I started this blog a couple of months ago what my expectations were, I can tell you I would never have predicted that I would be able to make an impact on schools and classrooms. The power of technology and social media is mind boggling. It is truly what I believe, and Fountas and Pinnell are some of the most well-respected literacy researchers in the world. They have a passion for student learning and are all about doing it the right way. Life is about opportunities, and I would never be where I am today if I wouldn't have taken the opportunity to train out at Lesley. To pay it forward and have this blog to help others makes me feel even more blessed. Your comment made me tear up-that's how much it means to me! Thank you so much for your kind words, and I can't wait to hear about the journey and transition that your middle school is about to embark on this year!

Kaseymiddleschoolteachertoliteracycoachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02723130657428914024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1528270180049100451.post-2945696017950380042013-07-30T19:17:14.604-07:002013-07-30T19:17:14.604-07:00Hi Kasey, I have written you recently and am hangi...Hi Kasey, I have written you recently and am hanging on your every post this summer. I am the "formerly junior high reading teacher" switching to the "middle school way" and trying to implement my half of the literacy collaborative, at least in reading. I have really enjoyed the last few posts, have purchased your wonderful materials from TpT and enjoyed downloading all of your freebies. I am getting the bins and binders ready and have the support of my principal. You are guiding my school! I particularly appreciate you sharing your conference notes since all I know about F&P I learned from your blog. And I respect your blog more than any other I have read because I have always sensed that for you it truly is about "... how to improve student learning. Period." And that is what I respect about you! Keep sharing, I am learning so much and you are about to impact the entire 7th and 8th grade reading department at a quad A school! Thank you so much for all you do!!! Students who are already struggling in your class are missing instruction and still expected to keep up with what's going on in the class when they aren't even there! I always think it would be interesting to shadow a student who gets "pulled out" from classes for a day and really ask ourselves how this child's day flows together and if it really is the most suitable for learning.middleschoolteachertoliteracycoachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02723130657428914024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1528270180049100451.post-86649973775408729842013-07-30T11:53:33.269-07:002013-07-30T11:53:33.269-07:00You're welcome, Mandi! It's always good to take a step back from the day to day world of preparing and teaching to really think about our own rationales and beliefs when it comes to the foundation of teaching.middleschoolteachertoliteracycoachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02723130657428914024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1528270180049100451.post-46156608882016039892013-07-30T10:06:02.367-07:002013-07-30T10:06:02.367-07:00The quote that's really resonating with me is ...The quote that's really resonating with me is the one about pulling students from their classes for interventions. This was one of my big frustrations last year. My resource students and reading intervention students were always pulled from my class, which meant they were constantly behind and missing important concepts and time to practice!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15118204814132341267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1528270180049100451.post-45641906663278305362013-07-29T15:12:08.768-07:002013-07-29T15:12:08.768-07:00So great!
